Imagine unwrapping on of these. The cutting-edge MTX-S is the first Hardy reel built with a hybrid carbon-fibre and alloy main frame. Notably light and yet extremely strong, it is fitted with a sealed (hence the "S") carbon-fibre drag that is fit for saltwater fishing and maintenance free. It is easily adjustable via a 340-degree regulator - from the maximum 5lb-6lb of drag pressure to minimum in one revolution. The colour coded dial provides an at-a-glance indication of the setting.

The MTX-S has an ultra-large arbor spool for fast retrival and kinder storage of line. The handle is made from carbon-fibre and the spool is fitted with a captive nut. The reel looks the part too: an anodised gun-metal and orange-copper finish adorned with Hardy's castle-and-fly logo.
